William T. Hochmuth

Rochester, NH – William T. Hochmuth, 74, passed away at his home in Rochester N.H. on Thursday July 14th 2022.   Bill was born on December 22, 1947 to Stanley and Annabelle Hochmuth.

He was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School in 1965.  He went on to serve in the US Navy from 1966 to 1970 and was based in Spain for much of his service.  Bill spent most of his working years employed at Monsanto where he worked his way up to Foreman.  Bill grew up in Georgetown, MA and later moved to Newburyport, MA followed by Newmarket, N.H. and finally settling in Rochester, N.H.  He married his wife Janice on October 21, 1973 and went on to have twin daughters in 1974.  He loved classic cars and enjoyed taking apart engines and rebuilding them.  Bill also loved sports.  You could always find him in his comfy chair watching his Red Sox in the summer and his beloved New England Patriots in the winter.  In 1983, Bill survived a life altering injury that resulted in permanent challenges for him.  He never let those challenges stop him from doing anything, and he rarely complained.  His strength and determination were nothing short of remarkable. Bill loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who he loved dearly.  He particularly enjoyed spending time with his eldest grandchild, Emily.  Emily spent much of her early years with her Papa and as she grew up, enjoyed watching sports and discussing their mutual love of football.  Bill also enjoyed his weekly Saturday night dinner and card games with dear friends. Bill loved his routines, and you could set your watch by finding him every morning reading his newspaper while enjoying his coffee and blueberry muffin in his chair at the head of his kitchen table.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Janice M. Hochmuth of Rochester N.H. to whom he was married for 48 amazing years.  His daughter Anna Maria Quiban and his son Joseph Hochmuth, both of Phoenix, AZ. His daughter Melissa Comeau of Rochester N.H., her husband Jeffery and daughters Emily (Hanson) and Ella.  His daughter Nicole Walker of North Devon, England, her husband Jamie and their children Thomas, Alex and Charlotte.    Bill also leaves behind many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends, his niece Samantha Shkliew of North Andover and nephews Robert Shkliew of South Boston and Kevin Reyes of Everett, who cared so much for their beloved Uncle Billy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 23rd from 12 to 4 at Tara Estates Clubhouse, 53 Eagle Drive, Rochester N.H. 03868.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bills name to the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association 245 West Houston Street, New York, NY 10014.
