Stephen “Steve” Joseph Oljey, 62, of Conway, NH, passed away on Friday December 24th in Fremont, NH, after a brief battle with cancer.

Steve was born on April 9, 1960 in Salem, MA and lived most of his years in Peabody, MA. Son of the late John P and Dorothy P (Swansburg) Oljey of Peabody, MA.  He is survived by his sister Cynthia A Twombly and husband James of Grantham, NH, sister Kathryn A Oljey of Gloucester, MA, niece Jill M Hoffman and family of Mercer Island, WA, and nephew Michael F Hoffman of Nashua, NH.

Steve was an avid and skilled mechanic and hobbyist, who enjoyed building and restoring vehicles, bicycles, electronics and all small engines. He was well known in his community as a dependable and caring handyman and neighbor, especially to the elderly. Most recently a resident of Conway, NH, he enjoyed his access to the outdoors and living on the Saco River.

There will be a small service for immediate family members only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his name to the Harborside Hospice in Plaistow, NH. The family extends their deep gratitude to the providers and staff of Colonial Poplin of Fremont, NH and Harborside Hospice of Plaistow, NH for their dedicated and compassionate care.
