Condolence from Mike Ennis & Family on September 21st, 2021 1:30 pm

To the entire Mello family…so sorry for the loss of Bob. A dear friend of some 50+ years we had so many great times as neighbors, in grammar school, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, scuba diving trips, skiing, fishing, hunting, motorcycle riding and many more. Bob was a very bright, caring and warm person who always expressed interest in the activities and/or accomplishments of others. Bob could light up a room with compelling, often entertaining views and was always willing to share his understated sense of humor. Bob was a very proud Godfather to my daughter and always expressed interest and support in her endeavors. We are going to miss him!

Our annual trips won’t be the same without him.

Again, so sorry for your loss.

Condolence from Jay Kirk and Family on September 21st, 2021 4:36 pm

From my family to yours, our deepest sorrow and condolences.

It was my privilege to become a friend of Bob’s over the last twenty years. He was a fun person to hang out with, as he had a quick wit, and never minced words. He was also a wonderful storyteller with a great sense of humor. We always looked forward to Bob’s arrival at camp.

Our annual hunting and fishing trips to Northern Maine and Newburyport will not be the same without him.

He was a great guy and this is a great loss.

He will not be forgotten.

Please accept my deepest heartfelt condolences to the Mello family and all who dearly loved him. It was truly and honor and privilege to know such a caring, grateful person. Bob was a free spirit who loved those near to him without reservation and would bend over backwards to help a friend/family member in need. He will be missed but never forgotten, I will forever be grateful for the fond memories during the time we shared. Let us all rejoice and find comfort in the special moments that brightened our days throughout the years.

Condolence from Chris Fraser on September 22nd, 2021 9:15 pm

Dear Debra and Family,

I was deeply saddened to learn about Bob’s passing this past weekend. I have known Bob going way back to childhood day’s in Danvers as he was my cousin Mike’s best friend.

I really got to know Bob over the past 20+ years while hunting and fishing together in Maine and on the Merrimack river. He was a great friend, always had a smile on his face and made us laugh. He was the best story teller and always kept us entertained.

Bob was always prepared for every adventure and eager to share all the gadgets he had accumulated over the past year. I recall a recent fishing outing on our friend Jay’s boat. Bob showed up with 3 large bags of gear and 5 fishing poles.

I said what are you doing with all that stuff, it’s a 4 hour trip not 4 days. Well, about 1 hour into the trip the reel fell off my rod and I wished I had some duck tape. Well sure enough Bob reached into one of his bags, pulled out some duck tape and saved the day.

One late night in November, his friend Mike was overdue on returning to hunting camp.
Bob became very concerned and rallied the other six of us sitting around cabin, to go back into the woods to help locate Mike. Bob even had the camp owner contact the Maine Wardens. Mike was fine, but that’s the type of person Bob was, always looking out for the wellbeing of others.

Bob loved to talk about his family, beloved dogs. He will be sorely missed, but not forgotten, during our regular trips to the North Woods.

Please accept my deepest condolences.
