
Seabrook – Oscar Maurice Chagnon, 81, of Seabrook died September 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by loving family.
He was born in Pittsfield, January 27, 1937 a son of the late George L. and Mary (Auger) Chagnon Meekins.
Oscar worked in the shoe industry for many years as a leather cutter in Haverhill, MA and later as a security guard at Yankee Greyhound. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed any outdoor activity. He enjoyed helping out at the shooting range, making wood carvings with a selected few being displayed at the Seabrook Historical Society.
He shared 63 years of marriage with his wife Rita M. (Eaton) Chagnon.
In addition to his wife he leaves six children, Clement Chagnon and his wife Judy of Seabrook, three daughters, Marie Souther, Rosanna Welch and her husband Donald all of Seabrook, April Eaton and her husband George of Epping, Keith Chagnon and his wife Annette, George Chagnon and Sabrina all of Seabrook, his brother, Norman Chagnon of Pittsfield, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Oscar was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Valerie, granddaughter Tisha Marie, sister Lorraine Page and brother Raymond Chagnon.
A memorial gathering will be held from 11 AM – 3 P.M. Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the Trinity United Parish House, 29 Main Street, corner of RT 1 and Folly Mill Road, Seabrook. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
