Tequila Ocean
My gentle poet has fallen in the drink.
Buoyed at first by warm waves of delusion
He soon forgets to swim begins to sink
Down in undercurrents of addiction.
In mute decent his body gasps for air
Habitual fool breathes in Tequila Gold
False promising to swallow his despair
Tequila Ocean swallows up his soul
Cuervo’s ghost dissuaded him to know
Denial as a cruel seductive whore
Because of her my gentle poet now
Lies drowning on Tequila Ocean floor
Lies lifeless in a watery bed of booze
No lifeguard lover can save the drowning muse.
