In Loving Memory of Jane Champagne

Wakefield, NH  – Jane Champagne, born on December 29, 1943, in Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on January 7, 2024, in Wakefield, New Hampshire at her son Edward’s home. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a life dedicated to family and nursing.

Jane is preceded in death by her late husband, Joseph D.R. Champagne and son Lawrence Champagne. She is survived by her additional children Ed, Jeanne, Anne, Philip, Trish, Joe-D, and Jon.

Her journey in life led her to achieve a childhood dream when she became a nurse later in life. With determination and passion, she worked in nursing homes, as a traveling nurse, and at the Massachusetts Corrections in Walpole.

Known for her spirited personality, Jane was a terrible patient, often telling her doctors and nurses to “bug off.” Her strength and independence were evident throughout her life. Those who became her friends experienced her unwavering loyalty and devotion.

She was raised by her paternal uncle after her father gave her up for adoption and had 10 half siblings. Five half siblings from her late father Edward Sullivan: the late Audrey Kenneally, the late PFC Edward M Sullivan, Joseph Sullivan of Fall River, Kevin Sullivan of Milton, and Michelle Sullivan of Abington. Her biological mother, Joan O’leary also had five children: Francis Hapenney, Michael Kurch, Sean Kurch, William Kurch, and Judith Kurch.

In her moments of solitude, Jane found solace in reading, listening to Irish and Hawaiian music, and indulging in an ice-cold chocolate shake. Her flaws were many, but underneath it all, she remained a little girl forever searching for acceptance and love.

Jane Champagne’s life was a tapestry of experiences, marked by both triumphs and challenges. She will be remembered for her resilience, her dedication to family, and the lasting impact she had on those fortunate enough to call her a friend. A memorial will be held January 11, 2024 at 4:00pm at the Blue Bay Seafood and Steaks restaurant in Wakefield NH. May she rest in peace, finally finding the acceptance and love she sought throughout her life.
