George Claude Lowery Jr.

East Kingston- George Claude Lowery Jr., 61, of East Kingston, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday February 10, 2023. He was born in Atlanta GA on October 30, 1961, son of the late George Sr. ”Claude” and Doris (Roebuck) Lowery.

George spent most of his childhood in Atlanta, GA and then Pensacola, FL.  After graduating from Pine Forest High School in 1980, he spent another few years in Atlanta before returning to Milton, FL to raise his family with Denise Lowery. The past 14 years, George spent in Breaux Bridge, LA, expanding his extended family to include those he worked with and met through his outgoing personality and true love of people.  He spent the last several months in East Kingston, NH to be near his daughters and grandchildren.

George’s two greatest passions in life were his family and his service to others.  Always on the lookout for anyone needing help, George was always the first to stop on the side of the road for a stranded traveler, or rush to the aid of his children, grandchildren and his little sisters.  He spent many years providing help to those in need via his volunteer work beginning in high school as a camp counselor for disabled children and adults, continuing in adulthood as a volunteer with the fire department and Search and Rescue for many years.

George enjoyed cruises, Disney, a good rum and coke, dancing, Blue Angels airshows and the beach.  He also delighted in being the amazing Paw Paw that could fix anything.  That was his super power.

During his 5 year battle with cancer, George displayed a strength of character, positive outlook and resolve to overcome the disease. He kept his medical providers entertained with his sense of humor, dignity and perpetual smile. George had an uncanny ability to connect with people and he relished adding friends to his daily life.  He loved to show his true appreciation to those that cared for him throughout the journey.

He is survived by his daughters: Heather Allen and her husband Matt of East Kingston NH, and Angela Perry and her husband Daniel of Manchester NH. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Hailey and Wesley Allen, Austin Huling Jr., Salina, Henry and Aubrey Perry, and Steven and Conner Clifton. His siblings, Cheryl Hayes and her husband Jonathan of North Carolina, Wendy Keller and her husband Doug of Oregon, and Millette Lowery of South Dakota, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will hold a Celebration of George’s Life in Rayne, LA on July 5th and another at Pensacola Beach, FL on July 7th.
