Kensington, NH- David C. Mechem, 75, of Kensington, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017.
Dear Linda,
So sorry and our deepest condolences. I will never forget Dave’s and my years working in the Windward Yacht Yard……..also our sail in the BVI and visit to your house in Tortola………RIP Dave with FAIR WINDS and CALM SEAS.
Sincerely,
Tom and Paula Eldrddge
Linda,
Our hearts grieve with you as we both loved Dave so dearly. We feel so grateful that we were able to spend time with him while he was on island. Our last dinner with Uncle Chuck and you guys will be in our memories. Dave was an extra special and wonderful guy…always loved his dry sense of humor and his big smile.
We will be honored to help with releasing him to the sea in Eleuthera. Skip will miss their trips to Spanish Wells. I will see you sometime late July in NH. Big warm embracing hugs are going out to you by cyberspace until I can see you in person. Please call anytime for any reason….he will leave a big void.
Love ya,
Sharon and Skip
Eleuthera has one less ? star!
Tides ebb n flow but David’s warmth, sincerity and fellowship,
Have truly left us all….Better Friends!
Blessings dear Linda and Family n Bertie.
Dear Linda, Tim, and extended Family,
Upon receiving news of David’s passing and reading his obituary, we immediately thought of the last two lines of John Masefield’s poem, SEA FEVER: “And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.”
Dave is a fondly remembered 1964 Bowdoin Classmate and Friend and we will always visualize his flashy and fluid skating style when he played for the Bowdoin Hockey Team in the early 1960’s.
-RIP Fellow Polar Bear and be sure to take your mentor, Coach Sid Watson, down to the sea for a sail.
Linda
Our fondest memories of David as a classmate and teammate at Belmont Hill and later BOWDOIN and as a kind and generously warm friend in more recent years. Our kinship and shared experiences of boating was a special bond
David is and will be greatly missed by those of us who knew and yes, loved him
Dear Linda and Family,
As a Bowdoin ’64 Classmate as well as both a hockey opponent (Nobles) and Teammate, Dave stands out to me from a sixty-year perspective. I was particularly fond of the guy in the early ‘Sixties and I think I loved him even more from connecting with him over the past five or so reunion cycles. He was always ready to chat about things good and not quite so good. Our conversations were earnest and positive – no matter what was going on. He listened and contributed to maintaining our connection. I will continue to be most grateful for having known him pretty darn well.
My thoughts are with you – and with him.
LINDA Dede and I are so glad we saw David in February……..and saw him entertaining guests at his table. We will be in Montauk this coming weekend and will remember him fondly as we see his ocean. Grampus
Dear Linda and Family,
When I was little, David was my sailing instructor at the Annisquam Yacht Club.
He instilled in me a reverence for good seamanship and a love of competition.
An accolade from David was a hard won trophy. Thank you, David.
With sincere condolences,
Pippy Giuliano
I love the suggestion to “Mess about in Boats” in lieu of flowers. David was just enough older than I to be a hero figure. I remember his sailing abilities and his general all around good nature.
I am sorry for your loss, Geoff Richon

Dear Linda, I am so sorry to read of the passing of David. I didn’t know him well but he was always so pleasant at the riding club gathering. When I walk the beach the next time I will think of him and you.
Sincerely,
Diane Robinson
