In Memorial

Stratham – Candace L. Wilson, 71, of Stratham, died peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at her home surrounded by loving family.

She was born in Waltham, MA on September 30, 1945, the daughter of the late William and Audrey (Johnson) Aiken.

Candace was raised in Newport and graduated from Newport High School with the Class of 1963. She earned her undergraduate degree from Wheelock College of Boston, her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of New Hampshire and went on to complete her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies program in Educational Leadership from the University of New Hampshire.

She started her teaching career in the Littleton School System. She soon became a stay-at-home Mom, a job she treasured, and when her children were older, Candace returned to the classroom with the Kearsarge School District. After 13 years with Kearsarge, she went to the Winnisquam School District and served as vice principal and principal of the elementary school. She retired from education in 1995 as the vice principal at Amesbury Middle School.

Candace and Warren made their home in South Sutton for over 20 years and had moved to Stratham 9 years ago. She loved playing her piano very loudly if permitted, and was an active member of the North Hampton Bridge Club. Candace was also involved with countless educational committees in every school system she worked.

She leaves Warren, her devoted husband of over 50 years; her sons, Zachary Wilson of Billerica, MA and Nathan Wilson and his wife, Emma of Worcester, MA; her grandchildren, Alex, Isaac and Chloe and her brother, Scott Aiken and his wife Debbie of Wells, ME.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Stratham Community Church, 6 Emery Lane, Stratham. Family and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Exeter, P.O Box 176, Exeter, NH 03833.

Warren,
You and your family have our deepest sympathies.

Living across the street from you for so many years, playing cards on a hot summer night, watching the boys grow into talented young men, hearing about the grandchildren, visiting in Exeter and Stratham,for cards are some of the many memories we will treasure.

Lovingly,
John and Sybil

Dearest Warren…..

Words cannot express the sadness with Candace’s passing. I will miss her straightforward candor and spirit. And, I loved to hear her playing the piano late into the evening. She’s gone far too soon.

Hugs from your neighbor;
Kathy
