It is with great sadness that the family of Arthur Gordon Farnsworth announces his death on 12-30-2023. He was born December 8, 1930, in Salem, MA, to Sadie and John Farnsworth, but lived most of his life in Greenland, NH.

After attending schools in Danvers, MA, he completed a bricklayer apprentice program. This was the beginning of a long and successful career as a bricklayer. He reached the position of superintendent and was responsible for overseeing the building of numerous local hospitals. In addition, for 27 years he served as a certified official for high school and semi-pro football games which kept him actively involved in the sport he loved the most.

He also had a great passion for golf, gardening, travel, and making memories with family and friends.

He was predeceased by the love of his life, Glenna Astbury Farnsworth who left us on April 15, 2020. He’s also predeceased by his daughter Sharon Weeks; granddaughter Rhonda Weeks Guzinski; brothers Douglas, Raymond, Cecil, Richard, Jackie, and sisters Francis and Dottie.

Survivors include his daughter Sandra Magoon of Strafford, NH; stepchildren Dennis Brown of Culpeper, VA; Linda Brown of Greenland, NH; Robert Brown of Columbia, SC; “adopted” daughter Marjie Brennan; and four grandchildren. Per Arthur’s wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Sad to see the passing of Arthur. A lot of memories from stealing pumpkins from his rock wall on Halloween 60 years ago to giving him donuts and candy every time he showed up to the recycle center. Great memories that will stay with me forever
