Arleen Douglas

d. May 19, 2023

Rochester, NH – Arleen Douglas, 79, of Rochester and formally of Colebrook, passed away May 19,2023 at home after a period of declining health with Bonnie by her side. She was born May 13,1944 in Whitinsville, MA, the youngest of five. Her brothers and parents predeceased her.

Arleen was an LNA her entire life, working for Huggins Hospital, Clipper Home of Wolfeboro, Farmington VNA and then into private duty. She was good at what she did. She retired in 1999 to take care of Bonnie’s mom until her passing in 2009. Her next joy in life was taking care of Logan. They became two peas in a pod. He tried so hard to teach her how to use an iPad and she just could not do it. He would throw his little hands in the air and say, “Oh forget it, Meme.” “Don’t feel bad Logan, she never could get the hang of it.” She really loved that little boy.

She is survived by her partner of 34 years Bonnie Day, her six children, Arthur, Leah, Kathleen, Dan, Desmond [Robin] and Gavin [Karey], all of Alton and all of whom wore name tags at one time or the other because she would call out every name till she got the right one, her daughter in-law, Karen, of Salisbury, MA, her 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews including her special niece, Teresa Trull, of Strafford, NH. She also leaves her extended family of nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Honey.

She was predeceased by her son, Bruce, in 2020 and her grandson, Matthew, in 2021.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 1 to 3 PM on June 18, 2023,  at the  Claude Batchelder American Legion, Route 28, Alton NH.

Heaven gained another angel today. Rest in peace and until we meet again, remember I LOVE YOU.
