Portsmouth- Amanda “Mandy” (LeQueux) (Bulwinkle) Armstrong, 78, of Portsmouth, NH. passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 12, 1943 in Charleston, SC to John C. Bulwinkle jr. and Helen Aline (Smith), and is survived by Grant, her husband of 59 years, daughter Jennifer of Portsmouth, son Christopher of Madison, NJ, sister Gladys Hatchl of Falls Church, VA,, and grandsons Eric, Kevin, and John.

Mandy grew up in Charleston, SC and Falls Church, VA. After being graduated from George Mason High School she attended Radford College and lived in Germany for two years while her husband was stationed there in the US Army.

After raising her family in Salem, MA, she worked as a tour guide in the Salem Witch Museum. She took pride in being Grandmama to both humans and rescued greyhounds. Her clam presence and quiet strength was a gift to her family, as were her talents in the kitchen – nobody’s meatloaf and frosted brownies could come close!

She and Grant retired to Portsmouth in 2005 and joined the Community Church of Durham, NH. As a tireless volunteer with the church, Mandy applied her ingenuity, enthusiasm, positive attitude, and amazing organizing abilities in many ways. Serving on the Liturgical Arts Team, her sense of art, design and skill in flower arranging contributed to enhancing the worship experience. Mandy co- led the women’s Bible Study group. She also prepared meals for many years for Families First in Portsmouth. Mandy was remembered by many as the first person to welcome them to the church and make them feel part of the community. She enriched the lives of those around her.

A memorial service will be held later in the summer at Community Church of Durham, NH. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Community Church of Durham, 17 Main Street, PO Box 310, Durham, NH 03824.
